If you are already registered for a trip to The Outdoor School, here is some information that will be essential in preparing your trip.
Preparing Yourself
All of the information and forms that you will need to begin planning your trip are in the Teacher's Packet (click on below). We realize that you lead very busy lives as teachers and have therefore tried to make your trip preparation as simple as possible, but please do read through all the information before sending us your forms. We also ask that you send us all forms by the required date so we can plan your trip as efficiently as possible.
Please make sure each student takes home a copy of the Student Packet, and that each chaperone (parent and teacher) takes home a copy of the Chaperone Packet. These packets can be found under "Preparing Students" and "Preparing Chaperones" below.

Teacher's Packet
Course Description List Teachers (new and old!): please make sure you look at this list before you choose your activities as it contains important information about the suitability of each activity for your students.

Preparing Chaperones
All of the information and forms that your chaperones will need is in the Chaperone's Packet located below. We realize that some of your chaperones may be parents whose expectations are often very different from the expectations of teachers. We strongly suggest planning a meeting for all chaperones (teachers and parents) in order to set their expectations and go over with them any specific information that you may determine they need.

Preparing Students
All of the information and forms that your students will need is in the Student's Packet located below. It is very important that we receive the medical forms at least one week prior to your arrival.
Have your students make their nature journal (instructions are in the Teacher's Packet). We will begin using this right away and it is important that all students have one. We also recommend that your students fill out the 'Before You Come' page (instructions are in the Teacher's Packet). This allows them to focus on the fact that they are coming to The Outdoor School and not summer camp. Using our name, The Outdoor School, and not our location, Camp Champions, also helps to set their expectations.

Preparing Parents
You are welcome to give out our 1-800 number to parents and chaperones. After hours, they should call 1-800-696-3334, and enter extension 213.
Packing appropriate gear is important. Please watch the weather forecast, simply because it is 80* in Houston does not mean that it is the same here! Our cabins are not air conditioned, although there is a ceiling fan for warm nights. They are also not heated, so warm sleeping attire is needed for cold nights. It is also usually windy here, which drops the temperature on cooler days.
