Mission Statement
“The Outdoor School strives to use the outdoors to awaken ourselves and others to the potential within and around us.”
“The Outdoor School strives to use the outdoors to awaken ourselves and others to the potential within and around us.”
The Outdoor School is just what its name implies: A place where kids can see, hear, touch, smell, even taste nature. A place where they can learn about themselves, their natural environment with their friends while participating in fun and educational outdoor activities. There’s something for every age and every interest that will help your students grow by facing challenges, overcoming their fears and doing things they never imagined they would! The Outdoor School operates Monday through Friday during both the fall and spring school semesters. Grades 4th-12th are welcomed for day, overnight, and multi-day trips.
At The Outdoor School all of our classes take place outdoors in beautiful Texas Hill Country. All of our activities including adventure or academic, are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). At The Outdoor School your students will participate in experiential activities that allow them to become fully immersed in every class. From learning about the nitrogen cycle, to catching their first fish, to seeing the Milky Way in all its’ wonder, taking your students to The Outdoor School is a field trip they will never forget.
Let our staff and your students unite! You worked hard to get them to this stage in their education now enjoy a few hours to relax and enjoy the experience; you’ll be amazed at what you’ll learn too. The Outdoor School has spent 20 plus years working with thousands of students and we know how to turn a regular field trip into a trip of a lifetime. Join the more than 200 public, private, and public charter schools that attend each year and see what all the excitement is about.
Students will learn Universal Respect and Challenge by Choice, two philosophies we abide by at The Outdoor School.
Universal Respect is universal around The Outdoor School. It is a part of everything we do. It means everything should be treated with respect. To respect others, students are taught to treat others as they would like to be treated, using encouragement and positive words and actions. Students will also be expected to show respect for themselves by never underestimating their own potential or worth. Universal Respect also means to respect other students’ belongings, the camp, and the natural environment.
Challenge by Choice involves students setting personal goals and reaching them using physical, mental and social challenges along the way. Goals can always be reset higher or lower, however students are encouraged to meet and exceed their goals by taking reasonable risks. We want every student to meet and exceed at least one goal while they are at The Outdoor School.
The Outdoor School is located at Camp Champions in Marble Falls, Texas. A short distance from the urban buildings, loud city streets and crowded byways is our 80-acre haven in the Texas Hill Country. Located on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls, TX, TOS lovingly nurtures lush green lawns, wildflower meadows, crisp cool lake waters and all the native creatures you can imagine.
Our Management team works hard to consistently deliver the best possible programming for your students: With over 40 years of experience in outdoor education, we have dedicated our professional lives to expanding outdoor education opportunities to as many students as possible. We lead our seasonal instructors through an extensive three-plus week training to make sure your students will be surrounded by a caring and trained staff who are trained in lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid, Ropes Course facilitation, experiential teaching techniques and so much more. The safety and educational development of your students is our paramount priority.
